Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino confirmed yesterday that he’s checked into a drug and alcohol rehab program “to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion.”
He’s currently been admitted to the Cirque Lodge in Utah.
A statement was posted to his official website yesterday after initially denying online reports that he went into rehab.
“Don’t believe everything you read or hear,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
He used that same Twitter account to send out his new statement, which was titled “The Situation Wants to Set The Record Straight.”
“I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion,” his statement said. “I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”
Former castmate Angelina Pivarnick claims Sorrentino was hitting the drugs pretty hard.
“I don’t understand how nobody caught on to him doing a mass amount of drugs!” Pivarnick told the Murphy in the Morning Show, according to Radar Online.
“Obviously he’s been using the money not for charity, and stuff like that to help kids out, to help people that are less fortunate, but using blow.”
Pivarnick, 24, didn’t hold back in bashing “The Situation”.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all the support and kind words. It means the world to me and I truly appreciate it.

“He deserves to freakin’ stay in rehab for the next ten years! Please stay in the rehab and don’t come out!” she said of Sorrentino, 29.
“I can’t believe he didn’t go to rehab three years ago.”
Jersey Shore ended its fifth season this month, but MTV has renewed the show for a sixth season.
